Thinking of quitting smoking after the holidays?
You may want to consider the use of acupressure to help you control your urge to smoke and to help you relax.
Ear Lung Point Location
Here is a link to an ear map and the ear to help you understand where to put the tape seeds.
The lung area is really that entire bottom bowl that is the space beneath the tragus and anti-tragus and below the concha(see figure 904 of the ear anatomy description). In the narrative above the figure you will read that the upper section of the concha(cymba concha) is what is labeled in the figure as concha and that the lung area is in the cavum concha.
- Use whole mustard seeds found in your supermarket spice area and any first aid tape, such as transpore, etc.
- Place 3-4 seeds on the sticky side of the tape and apply to the lung area when it is clean and dry. Apply pressure to this area with the fingertip throughout the day and when you have the urge to smoke.
- Remove the tape seed before bed. In the morning apply a fresh set of seeds and tape to the other ear. Alternate the ears daily to decrease possible irritation and discontinue if you see signs of irritation such as redness, etc.
You will want to have a complete plan for quitting but you probably will find this ear lung acupressure to be a useful aspect of your smoking cessation work.
